轻松搞笑的《精灵鼠小弟》原来的剧本是这么写的：斯图亚特是乔治的妈妈生下的小老鼠，而不是像电影里那样是领养的……

The great mouse adventure of 'Stuart Little'

While in White's classic tale, Mrs. Little mysteriously gives birth to a mouse, in this version, the Littles of Fifth Avenue plan to adopt a little brother for their precocious son George . This allows the always delightful Julia Sweeney to play an official at an orphanage and sets up Stuart as the perennial outsider.

The simple plot revolves around the mouse's attempts to fit in the world of the humans. George at first rejects him, while the other people in Little's family attempt to welcome him. Meanwhile, the family cat Snowbell run through the main plot; he conspires with the local alley cat to distroy Stuart.

Minkoff keeps things moving at a brisk pace, and he certainly knows how to integrate the live-action sequences with the digitally animated ones. There are several exciting set pieces that the kids enjoyed, ranging from a toy boat race in Central Park to Stuart being pursued by several cats. The latter sequence is a little intense, making it unwise to bring very small children to see the film.

　　电影的情节简单，围绕着那只想要融入人类社会的老鼠。乔治开头是对它采取抵制态度的，但是莉特家中的其它人却极力欢迎它的到来。与此同时，家猫雪铃贯穿于主要的故事情节；它和小巷中的乡猫一起谋划要将斯图亚特消灭。

　　导演闵科夫用一种轻快活泼的手法处理情节发展，毫无疑问的他是相当了解怎样将一系列真人表演与数字化动画片段结合成一个整体。剧中有几处令人兴奋的场景片段是孩子们所喜欢的，从中央公园的一场玩具船比赛到斯图亚特被一群猫追赶的镜头。后面那个场景有点儿紧张，所以带太小的孩子去看这部片子就显得有点不太明智。
