　　I oppose having a new high school built in myneighborhood.Although I know theres a real need for a newfacility, I have tosay that I dont want one built so close to me.I think it wouldcause a lot of problems.

　　First of all, there are very few teenagers in thisneighborhood,or in our suburban subdivision, for that matter. Mostof theresidents here are either retired or are just starting outwithyoung children. This means that the kids coming to the newhighschool wouldnt be walking. They would come on buses or wouldbedriving to the school. Either way, this would mean a lotmoretraffic on our streets.

　　In addition to the traffic on school days, there also wouldbetraffic whenever there was a sporting event, such as abasketballor football game, or activities at the school. Wouldthere beenough parking in the school lot for everyone attendingthoseevents? Probably not. Consequently, those extra cars would endupin our neighborhood.

　　My neighbors and I would also be upset about the loss of thepark,which is the site thats been selected for the high school.Motherswith young children gather there every morning for theirkids toplay together. People my age like to take a walk afterdinner. Onweekends, that park is a place for picnics andrelaxation. Wed besorry to lose our neighborhood park.

　　I also have some concerns about all those young people beinginour neighborhood. Would there be problems with drugs orfights?Could the school district guarantee us that security wouldbeapriority? These are concerns that I dont think can beaddressedsufficiently for me to support a new high school inmyneighborhood.
