
China Southern Airlines is set to transport the pair of Giant Pandas the central government will give to Hong Kong to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Special Administrative Region.
The Wolong Natural Conservation and Research Center signed a contract with the carrier on Thursday, specifying the company will use its most advanced cargo plane to transport the precious animals.
The central government announced it had selected the Giant Pandas to give Hong Kong on March 20. The animals will be sent to the Special Administrative Region by May 1.
The two pandas were born in 2005 at the China Panda Protection and Research Center in Wolong, Sichuan Province. The male baby panda weighs 60 kilograms and the female weighs 61 kilograms.
