Researchers have uncovered a village that may have been home to the builders of Stonehenge, the mysterious circular stone monument in England. The village of small houses dates back to about 2600 B.C.That's about the same time Stonehenge was built.
“Clearly, this is a place that was of enormous importance,” said researcher Mike Parker Pearson.
The ancient houses are at a site known as Durrington Walls, about two miles from Stonehenge. Researchers believe Stonehenge was a memorial site or cemetery for the villagers. The village also had a wooden version of the stone circle. It may have been used by people attending festivals at Stonehenge.
Eight of the houses have been excavated, or dug up. Researchers say there may be as many as 25 of them. The wooden houses were square and about 14 feet along each side. There are signs of bed frames along the walls and of a dresser or storage unit. The houses also had fireplaces.
Two of the houses were separate from the others and may have been the homes of community leaders. Researchers say those sites didn't have the debris(残骸)and household trash that was found in the other homes. Stone tools, animal bones, arrowheads and other artifacts were found throughout the village site.

Read the three poems and choose the best answer to each question followed.
Poem 1
My Sister's Always on the Phone
—— by Bruce Lans ky
My sister's always on the phone.
I never see her study.
She doesn't do her homework,
which is why her grades are cruddy.
My sister's always on the phone,
but I don't think that's cool.
My sister is so popular
she's flunking out of school.
Poem 2
What's So Funny?
—— by Bruce Lansky
There's something no one's telling me.
There's something I don't know.
I notice people staring at me
everywhere I go.
I ask my friends to clue me in;
not knowing is distressing.
But no one says a single word;
I find that quite depressing.
They point at me and giggle.
They point at me and grin.
I'll have to find out just what kind
of trouble I am in.
I check the bathroom mirror
to learn the awful truth.
I find a piece of lettuce
sticking on my big front tooth.
I rinse the yucky green away.
I think that is the end.
But then I hear more giggling—
it comes from my best friend.
I tell him, “Jack, please help me out,
I'm feeling kind of blue.”
He says, “You've got some toilet paper
sticking to your shoe!”

Life is filled with challenges. As we get older we come to realize that those challenges are the very things that shape us and make us who we are, it is the same with the challenges that come with friendship. When we are faced with a challenge, we usually have two choices. We can try to beat it off, or we can decide that the thing presenting the challenge isn’t worth the trouble and call it quits. Although there are certainly times when calling it quits is the right thing to do, in most cases all that is needed is commitment and communicable.
When we are committed to something, it means that no matter how painful or how uncomfortable something is, we will always choose to face it through instead of running away from it. Communication is making a space for discussion and talking about how you feel as opposed to just saying what the other person did wrong. If you can say to a friend, “I got my feelings hurt.” rather than “You hurt my feelings,” you are going to be able to solve the problem much faster. In dealing with many challenges that friendship will bring to you, try to see them for what they are: small hurdles you need to jump or get through on your way through life. Nothing is so big that it is impossible to get over, and hurt only serves to make us stronger. It is all part of growing up, it happens to everyone, and some day you will look back on all of this and say, “Hard as it was, it made me who I am today. And that is a good thing.”
71.The writer’s attitude toward challenges is ________.
   A.pessimistic B.optimistic C.unconcerned D.doubtful
72.It can be inferred from the passage that________.
A.Friendship needs challenges      B.Challenges shape our character
C.Small hurdles aren’t worth the trouble
 D.Commitment promotes friendship
73.The writer suggests that_________ when faced with a challenge.
A.one should call it quits       B.one should temporarily run away from it
C.one should be committed and communicable
D.one should lay it aside for a while
74.According to the passage, if your friend hurt your feelings, you are well advised to_________.
A.forget it  B.talk to him/her about it directly
C.communicate properly with him/her D.be committed to it
75.The whole passage is centered on the relationship between_________.
A.friendship and challenges      B.commitment and communication
   C.communication and friendship
D.challenges and ways to get through

第Ⅱ卷(共45分)

第四部分:书面表达
第一节  阅读表达 (共5 小题;每小题 3分, 满分15分)
I recently turned fifty, which is young for a tree, midlife for an elephant, and ancient for a sportsman. Fifty is a nice number for the states in the US or for a national speed limit but it is not a number that I was prepared to have hung on me. Fifty is supposed to be my father’s age, but now I am stuck with this number and everything it means.
A few days ago, a friend tried to cheer me up by saying, “ Fifty is what forty used to be.” He had made an inspirational point. Am I over the hill? People keep telling me that the hill has been moved, and I keep telling them that the high-jump bar has dropped from the six feet. I once easily cleared to the four feet that is impossible for me now.
“___________, on the contrary, you are getting better.” says Dr. Joyce Brothers. This, however, is the kind of doctor who inspires a second opinion.
And so as I approach the day when I cannot even jump over the tennis net, I am moved to share some thoughts on aging with you. I am moved to show how aging feels to me physically and mentally. Getting older, of course, is obviously a better change than the one that brings you eulogies(悼词). In fact, a poet named Robert Browning considered it the best change of all:
                          Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to me.
Whether or not Browning was right, most of my first fifty years have been golden ones, so I will settle for what is ahead being as good as what has gone by. I find myself moving toward what is ahead with a curious blend (混合) of both fighting and accepting my aging, hoping that the philosopher was right when he said. “Old is always fifteen years from now.”
76.Which sentence in the passage is the closest in meaning to the following one?
It is not our will to get older, but anyway it’s better to live rather than die.
